Had the most relaxing few days here. The weather wasn’t the best but the cottage was so cosy and homely. It has everything you could possibly need. Our dog will be very sad to go too as he really loves the sheep in the field outside and sepnt most of the time watching them!
Tim, Alison and Yoda the spaniel – Jan 2020
Return trip to this lovely cottage – feels like home as soon as we walk through the door!
Technically a bad week to come – it began with Storm Ciara and ended with Storm Dennis!! Ciara brought snow which Yopad thought was wonderful, running around like a puppy (he’s 14). Plenty of good weather for walking, although Yoda can only manage short distances so Tim was left to do the big ones like a lost lad.
In all a lovely, relaxing week in the glorious Peak District – our annual pilgrimage – with the added pleasure of log fires at the cottage (even if it does get hot!!!) Thanks for the supplies and all the logs! We’ll be back!!
PS Cotswold in Bakewell is very helpful if you need to buy walking boots – Alison took 1¾ hours in there!
Chris, Ken, Rob & Helen – Dec 2019
WE thoroughly enjoyed our New Year stay in this very warm, cosy cottage. Walks from the house were many and thoroughly enjoyed. Also well placed for further expeditions. Each day we visited a different landscape. We particularly enjoyed the Barrel Inn at Bretton. Very helpful and obliging hosts!
Sue & Robin – Dec 2019
Very warm welcome and ideal location for our first visit to the Peak District. Tried both the Royal Oak and the Church Inn – lovely!
Jo, Paul, Tom & Anna & Maggie the dog – Nov 2019
Wonderful first visit to the beautiful Peak District. The cottage was warm and comfortable – perfect for the four of us. Lots of lovely walks and places to eat. The Royal Oak was fantastic for dinner. We had our best Sunday roast at The Merchant’s Yard in Tideswell ever! We will definitely be back.

Thank you for a lovely cosy cottage. Very warm and only lit the wood burner once!
Very impressed with the facilities. Never visited the Peaks before and absolutely loved the area. Loved visiting Bakewell, Buxton and lots of other beautiful areas.
Particularly love DoveDale and the reservoirs at Derwent, site of the Dambusters practice with the bouncing bomb. Wonderful local scenery.
Would recommend The Royal Oak at Hurdlow for dinner – fantastic food and dog friendly. We managed to do something new each day, even when it rained and we visited Chatsworth – well worth a visit.
Thank you for your hospitality.
