Another very comfortable and relaxing stay – our usual mix of catching up with relatives, visiting familiar haunts – the David Mellor Centre at Hathersage and ‘new road’ at Castleton – and some new exploring. Lovely cosy cottage. Good base for exploring the Peak District. Good days out for preschoolers (ours are 3 and 4):
- Chatsworth House – we didn’t go in the house, but plenty to keep little ones occupied in garden – maze, grotto, stream to walk in. Adventure playground was excellent and also a farmyard where you can get close to the animals.
- Heights of Abraham – caves, cable car, nice outdoor play area
- Matlock Farm Park – indoor play area is nice if it is wet and nice and quiet on a wet day! Can pet animals and also [have] pony rides
Marian was really helpful and friendly. Beautiful views from cottage and best night sleep ever!
